I watched Chennai Express in its preview show, my very first for any movie. Thus, I got a chance to frame my own independent opinion about the movie. I loved this movie about the bachelor Punjabi man who, on the way to fulfill his grandfather’s last wish, meets a South Indian girl. What adventures and their adventures thereafter. Director Rohit Shetty’s movies are high on action & style. Chennai Express has great songs, picturization & comedy.
Do read my post to learn about my Likes & Concerns about the movie. I have shared some notable scenes from the film & the gyaan/lessons we can learn from Chennai Express. Have you watched Chennai Express? How did you like it?
This is a story about a boy who emerges as a winner in life and fulfills his aim of self-actualization. It may be recalled that Self-actualization is the highest level in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
The little boy falls in love with a quote when his father shares it. It’s about lofty ideals and empowering self. The boy is inspired for life. His faith is not shaken even when he faces lows… He learns lessons and uses them to provide safety and security to his family so that his child does not have to face what he was compelled to… He shares his learnings and of course the motivational quote with his daughter.
Moral: Nothing is certain in life. We must be prepared and try our best to reach aims. Life-insurance and savings are important.
This article is a reflection of the state & levels of sycophancy in many walks of life in India.
According to the author: “ ‘The Great Indian Chamcha’ is a person who always tries to please others, most of the times in an attempt to gain something out of it…”
This is an honest post with points and examples that we are sure to have encountered! I found myself nodding in agreement!
The author discusses the many opportunities to claim the title ‘The Great Indian Chamcha’ throughout life. He logically presents how parents, school, college, university, friends, religion, politics, celebrities, English language, Society, money, career… give ample scope for ‘Chamchas’! This is truly detailed with valid observations and apt sketches.
The author understands that in this age of Chamchas, not all may react positively to his post. Thus, he starts his post with: “Statutory WARNING: Before you proceed and read the entire post, please make sure that you are sane enough to digest humor and accept some bitter truths.”
If you can digest humor and accept facts, then this post is for you! Also, be prepared to enter the world of ‘The Great Indian Chamcha’ with an open mind & with time on your hand to read & comprehend this detailed and comprehensive post.
Sycophancy has become a way of life today. Having its origins in politics, it has emerged to be omnipresent everywhere & sycophants abound & thrive with flair! The leader is never lonely with sycophants around. They are forever ready to hound!
In this 50 words poem, I have tried to convey the essence of sycophancy. Why do some people fancy sycophancy? What unites people (read- fellow-sycophants!) together? Why do they bother? Why are they fake? What takes the cake? They compete with one another for favors from the chosen one. Beware of sycophancy- it’s crazy, and certainly not fun!

Have you faced the outbreak of pimples on your face? If yes, how did you react? What did you do to ensure a pimple-free face? Did anyone help you overcome the problem? Do you feel that a face with pimples might be rejected for a job-interview or a photo contest?
In this story, the protagonist has an outbreak of pimples on her pretty face. Do read to find out what she does and how she reacts. Can she regain her zeal and zest & ever have picture-perfect moments? Does she manage to get rid of her pimples? If yes, who plays her savior?
Each time I watch the Superheroes in action, I wish that may we all be strong, healthy and immune like them. Taking the example of the Hindi movie Krrish-3, when the villain unleashes a deadly virus in the city, only Krrish and his family are safe & immune from its effects. I pray for an Immune India.
But, mere hoping, wishing and praying won’t do. We need to work to make India immune. A stronger, healthier and immune India is the India of my dreams. A healthy nation means better productivity and makes good economic sense. In this post, I have shared my views about what actions we need to take and the challenges & solutions. I have tried to present the current scenario and what is needed in India. There are some Bollywood examples and my personal experience too!

What comes to you mind when you think of SHUDDH DESI?
Be honest, what came to your mind?
Did you think of Ghee? Shuddh Desi Ghee?
Or did you think of our country’s soil- “Mere Desh Ki Dharti”?
Did the title of a Bollywood movie come to your mind?
Have you watched the Hindi-movie- “Shuddh Desi Romance”?
Do you feel that the movie’s title is not right as what it depicts is NOT “Shuddh Desi”?
Has our society evolved so much that now “living in” is in? Is this modernism?
Do you support the values passed off in the name of “Shuddh Desi” in the movie? Aren’t they concepts that are “Videshi”?

Uncle Pai is Anant Pai. He needs no introduction. He has affected the lives of many of us.
Like me, have you grown up with Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics? When I find my daughter reading the comics with the same interest, I feel very delighted. I also go on a trip down my memory-lane!
I remember the scores of stories I had sent for publication to Tinkle magazine and how Uncle Pai had responded to me. Those were the days of hand-written letters and snail-mails with colourful stamps…
I can’t thank Uncle Pai enough. This post is my letter to him.
Read on to learn how and why am I so grateful to Uncle Pai.
Sometimes some events set us thinking. We explain things as “coincidence” or “God’s will”. But, what’s favorable for one person/family, may spell doom for another person/family.
Again, we might face problems though we are not to blame… Another person’s negligence can be responsible for our death. There are miracles too. Some incidents appear supernatural.
May everyone uphold safe-driving and we all be safe.
This is a short story based on a true-life incident. Such incidents teach us that there’s divine intervention and a higher power. Such events create believers…
Have you faced a similar situation?

I was moved while watching a TV-show that highlighted the real-life case of Mr.Vikram Saxena who lost his son in a road-accident owing to an overloaded truck. Despite his best efforts and continuous follow-up, he could not bring the driver to book. The process got delayed and the driver was dead…
sadly, many road-accidents occur daily and people lose their loved ones.
If we all follow safe-driving and adhere to traffic-rules, our roads will be a lot safer.
In this post, I have shared some examples from Bollywood movies too.
May we all be safe.
Here’s my message-
“No Speeding. Drive Safe.
Don’t be a history/mystery.
Need to be alive to create history.”

It is sad that “religion” is the cause of so many problems and unrest in this world. But, weren’t religions started to get some answers & peace? If yes, why so much violence due to religions.
Strange that freedom of speech & expression is questioned and silenced when religion is in the picture. The recent Hindi movie- PK & the #CharlieHebdo attacks are a few examples.
In this poem, I have explored what religion means to me.
“Why the fight when all religions have the same goals and path?
In the name of religion, why the unhappiness & the bloodbath?”
When will we learn that our religion can never change our blood’s colour? What examples are we setting for the future generations?
Our world needs to rise over narrow divides. May we all uphold tolerance, compassion, love & peace.

Talaash is a Hindi word that means Search/Quest in English.
Talaash is a suspense-drama Hindi-movie directed by Reema Kagti.
it stars aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee & Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. It has super music and meaningful lyrics too.
Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat is handed a case that takes him through mysterious situations. Does he manage to unravel the whodunit? What impact does it have on his personal life?
Talaash movie makes us think. Are all investigations scientific & within the realms of knowledge and logic?
It is clear that there are many answers that we are no aware of…
The movie has a surprise ending that many criticized. But, I loved the movie a lot.
Have you watched Talaash? What are your views?
Though I have been writing movie-reviews for long, this was the first movie-review I published on my Blog.
Do read even if you have watched Talaash. I bet you’ll see it in a new light!
Don’t forget to comment!
There are many friends and foes we get to encounter in our life. Sometimes, friends become foes owing to wrong judgments. Nice when foes become friends.
Have you ever faced a situation where a friend turns into a foe and then back to a friend? It can happen when the air of negativity and misinformation is cleared. One person has to take the initiative to sort out and acknowledge. But, maybe the foe doesn’t know the real identity before becoming your friend!
My poem deals with a situation where the protagonist faces unfair plagiarism allegations and then appreciation about her original work!
Have you faced false charges? How did you deal with unfair comments & slander?

This is a poem based on a true-life incident that is now hogging the headlines.
I have written this poem as a response to two picture-prompts. One picture shows washed clothes put out to dry on the clothes-line, while the other image is an art that shows film-rolls on the face.
When there was trouble in the marriage of this well-known couple, and the wife accused her husband, some people felt she was washing dirty linen in public. Also, many scenes and drama has happened since then. The wife is no more. Nearly a year later, they have pronounced it as ‘murder’.
Hope they nab her killer(s). May her soul rest in peace.
It’s said, “Justice delayed is justice denied”. Hope there’s justice for her soon…

The Bollywood Movie- 2 States released in 2014 and garnered more than 100-crores. The excitement was understandable as the movie is based on the novel ‘2 States’ by best-selling author, Chetan Bhagat. The fresh couple Arjun Kapoor & Alia Bhatt play the leads as -Krish and Ananya. The movie, like the book, has many messages for us & teaches us many lessons.
I feel reel life does influence the real life and vice-versa. I also feel that it is up to us how we interpret and takeaway value from art and literature. Anyone can be our teacher, provided we are willing to learn… Bollywood movies are no exception.
Read my post for the Sweet-16 lessons that we can learn from the movie- 2 States 🙂
The Bollywood Movie- 2 States was released last year in 2014 and made it to the 100-crore-at-Box-Office-club.
It’s based on the novel of the same name by popular author, Chetan Bhagat. He was also associated with the film-making process. The movie is faithful to the book. However, it’s an abridged version and some key characters like Dolly are missing in the movie.
Krish and Ananya are wonderfully portrayed by the young rising stars- Arjun Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. The movie, like the book, is about the Locha-e-Ulfat (problem of love) that happens when IIM MBA students Krish and Ananya meet.

How I wish for some love & peace.
How I wish for the world to smile & say cheese….
Alas! News is shocking these days.
Hope the world soon changes its ways.
Here’s my poem that shares some of my thoughts.
Based on Rumi’s quote as the prompt-
“Listen with the ears of tolerance,
See through the eyes of compassion,
Speak the language of love.”
If everyone in our world follows this sincerely, there would be no sad incidents like attacks, murders and terrorism.
No Peshawar or Paris killings…
Is it so difficult to speak the language of love & peace?
Why is the V-word so important? Why does our society impose strict rules on the women? Why is the Virginity & Character of men not as sacrosanct? Can we ever be sure about the virginity-status of our prospective marriage-partner?
In this post, I have discussed some examples from mythology and Bollywood movies. They are a reflection of our society. Virginity and Character have a connection when ‘judgments’ are passed. Hope everyone is responsible and takes the right decision when in the right frame of mind and legal age. That will reduce the sexually-transmitted diseases and the rampant abortions.
Do you feel virginity is sacred and needs to treated with respect & responsibility?

How will you feel when you get something that you have always wanted? Will you consider it as a gift from the Lord? Will you feel blessed that you are the chosen one? Will you try to add more value to such gift?
This post is my 100 words poem based on a picture-prompt. The protagonist, a skilful artist, finds a blue log on the road and is thrilled. She believes that she is the lucky one by the grace of God. God has answered her prayers! She goes ahead adding her personal touch, by doing what has been in her mind for long. What does she do with the blue log?

Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana means Parliamentary Model Village Scheme.
On October 11th, 2014, on the occasion of Shri Jaiprakash Narayan’s 112th birth-anniversary, Shri Narendra Modi launched a new village development scheme named – ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’. Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
Having development of villages as its focus, this scheme aims at provision of basic facilities. Creating a model that can be replicated by others and adopting villages is an appreciable step.
May every person takes pride in his or her village. May there be responsibility, development and progress.
Great Yojanas/Schemes are fine. But, the people in charge have to fall in line!
Adopting 2,500 villages by 2019 is a great proposition.
Hope all people have participation & all parts of India are considered for inclusion.

Do you think the people in the world are more Indian than we think? What does being Indian mean? Can only Indians be Indian? What sets us apart as Indians? Can it be copied by the world? Can the world prove that it is more Indian than we think? If yes, how?
These are some points addressed in this post. I have tried to make it interesting by supplementing info pertaining to “Real”- true facts/incidents, “Reel”- Bollywood Movies & “Rhyme”.
Does the reality sync?
Can we acknowledge that some non-Indians can be (& have proved themselves to be) more Indian than we think?

2 States is a novel by best-selling author Chetan Bhagat.
The story revolves around 2 IIM MBA students- Krish and Ananya. They fall in love.
But, then they realize that in India, only ‘love’ between the lovers is not enough reason to get married. The families of the boy and girl also have to love each another! The problems are there as the boy and girl belong to two different states. There’s this North-South divide that has been humorously, yet seriously described.
I liked the novel because of its cool & honest style. Kudos to the author for sharing his personal tale with such candor!
This book has been adapted into a Bollywood movie last year. I loved the movie too.

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on”- Albert Einstein
Wish creativity was truly contagious. Then the #CharlieHebdo incident would not have taken place in Paris…
What happens when someone’s creativity ruffles feathers? Creativity can trigger jealousy, hatred and even murder… Sadly, we are staying in an intolerant world…
But, can the creativity be strong enough to withstand the external terrorist/extremist/opposing voices & forces? Can we have such strong creativity that can overpower the enemies and turn them into new people & they become friends? Can creativity inspire & make others aspire to be better & imitate the creative person rather than exterminate her/his creativity?
A short poem about creativity with a happy ending.
Devdutt Pattanaik’s latest book ‘7 Secrets of the Goddess’ has a resplendent book-cover.
Mr. Devdutt Pattanaik, a doctor, consultant & mythologist, juggles many roles with ease.
As I haven’t read any of his previous books such as ‘7 Secrets of Shiva’ & ‘7 Secrets of Vishnu’, I cannot compare his latest offering with the previous ones. This is an advantage.
However, I committed a mistake of judging the book from its cover. Seeing the Indian Goddess on cover, I felt his book deals with Indian Goddesses. But, as I started reading it, I realized that many Goddesses from around the world find a mention. The author’s research-work is praise-worthy. However, I found some important Indian Goddesses missing from the book. The number of Indian Goddesses is huge, and many states like Odisha have so many Goddesses that we need many books to mention them all!
I liked the images and information provided on pages on the left hand side of the book. I didn’t know about some stories/myths before reading the ‘7 Secrets of the Goddess’. I reasoned that some myths are presented in a different way as the author has sourced info from different texts/book. Like me, if you have grown up with your base formed by Amar Chitra Katha comics, then the ‘7 Secrets of the Goddess’ will present the same stories in a different fashion with a sexual angle.

Here are some unique pictures of monkeys playing with a object.
I clicked them on an evening at the Maa Tara Tarini Temple in Ganjam, Odisha, India.
A group of monkeys seemed to have much fun that day. They were lost in their own world and were busy merry-making and enjoying with their ‘plaything’.
I had my share of fun too! I was busy clicking the pics of their enjoyment!
You must check out the images to experience their thrill!
Yes, pics do speak more than a thousand words 🙂
The sun was setting & the light was dim. Still, I clicked photos to satisfy my whim!

#SwachhBharat is a fashion-statement these days.
Earlier, being #Swachh used to be a passion-statement!
I’m referring to the Indus Valley Civilization that flourished between 2500-1500 BC. The planned cities of those golden days are an example of the high standard of sanitation & hygiene.
The first pic in the post shows the ruins of the city of Dholavira in Kutch, Gujarat, India.
The second pic is very special for me as I have posed as a model, having been inspired by the Goddess Durga! However, I could not manage all her hands!
Do check out my pic to learn what sanitation & hygiene mean to me!

How often we find others deterring us from doing what we wish to pursue… Despite society’s negative comments, some people still dare to walk on a path and then emerge successful. Such people are role-models, who inspire all- including the people who had deterred them! The moment one proves that one is a winner, the same people who had demotivated t hem are ready to eat out of their hands!
A poem about a woman, who was not considered worthy. She did not let others dictate to her. Rather she walked that path… Read on to know what happened next!
Have you ever felt that may time stand still? That you are the only observer around, who’s invisible and not judged for your prying eyes? Have you celebrated and felt blessed as God has given you access to sacred sight? Have you found yourself reaching for your camera to capture a picture that to you means sheer delight?
Here’s a pic, clicked on Kerala’s Poovar beach one sunset when I was there. I spotted a honeymooning couple who appeared as a King & Queen pair! I was very far from them & this event was last year, but despite the distance & time, their love and togetherness still lasts in this pic and in my memory… This image speaks a story…

The world is sometimes unkind as it cannot judge talent. Just because our talent is questioned by some folks who do not understand, doesn’t mean that we are any less talented. We must continue our efforts and express ourselves sincerely with hope and faith. Keep pursuing our dreams and the stars. One day, we will be rewarded with our own starry sky.
In this short poem, the protagonist is ill-treated by the society. She does not leave her dreams, rather she leaves their world and looks for a place of her own. She is delighted to find a place where her colours are free and she is free to live the way she chooses without any censure or unkind words or behaviour… She knows her dreams will come true and she’ll soon have a beautiful canvas and life…

Writers and artists are like magicians. They use words and ordinary things to create extraordinary works of art that stand the test of time. What appears ‘ordinary’ to a layman’s eyes, undergoes a metamorphosis with the ‘extra’ details & creativity enhancing the aesthetic value of the now extraordinary creations that the world covets…
An artist can foresee a piece of art even in the raw materials available! That is genius- to adapt and make the most of the available situation…
In this short poem of 55-words, the writer expresses the difference between the outlook & thought-process of a non-artist and an artist. Though this poem has been written in the first person as a personal experience, it may be noted that the writer is an artist too! It takes creativity to recognize and express creativity creatively!
Post submitted for consideration for the- Zee Jaipur Literature Festival #ZeeJaipurLitFest
This 55-words poem is about a word-weaver. Our heroine is an author, who loves to write.
She builds up a great network and a strong fan-base that loves and supports her. They are totally besotted by the magic of her words & creativity.
The author wants to quit. But, is quitting easy? Will her readers allow her to leave?
Her word-power and the bond with her readers is so strong that the author is overwhelmed with the response. She will definitely be forced to reconsider her decision to quit…

This five sentences & 55-words poem expresses the heroine- the author’s LOVE & longing.
The author is shy, but realizes that she is in love with her hero. She just dreams of him & writes about him!
Does the hero know about this author’s love-affair? Will he ever experience the same feelings that our shy author battles almost every second? Will mutual reciprocation ever be possible in this one-sided love-story?

A poem about the love of the author’s life.
Nice when we find such a true love, who drives away the blues and shares so much information with us without a fuss!
Always a pleasure spending time with our loved one, doing what we love…

Do you forgive your loved one if he has bad news for you?
Like the author, are you stuck with your loved one, as if with glue?

What was your reaction on January 17, 2014 when you learnt that Sunanda Pushkar has been found dead?
Did you suspect foul play? Did you feel #SunandaMurdered ?
Sunanda was a gutsy lady who wouldn’t have resorted to suicide. The marks on her body spoke of the harsh treatment she might been been meted out in her final moments…
Some of my thoughts in this post… Hope Sunanda Pushkar gets justice.
It is so terrible that in our ‘advanced’ world where the most “intelligent” creatures reside, the innocent are subjected to harsh punishment…
What harm had a five-year-old child done to anyone?
Why was she killed for a “mission” that she had no clue about?
In this poem, the author, in the words of a five-year-old child, expresses about the recent #PeshawarAttack in Pakistan’s Army Public School where school-students were brutally massacred.
Sad incidents like this are proof that the innocent are sacrificed for reasons out of their control or understanding… What a deplorable state of our world! Still sad about the killings and for their family who can never really recover from the grave inconsolable loss…
What would God reply if & when an innocent soul questions Him- “What’s My crime?”
Can we please put an end to this mindless violence and terrorism?
WE have tremendous WE-POWER.
High time WE use our power to help our country. Our India boasts of ‘Unity in Diversity’. May we all recognize this great power and unitedly stand together to drive away all the ills. ‘Unity is strength’. May we all be strong & wise enough to recognize this. Our WE-POWER can catapult our country to a super-power as there will be peace & no untoward incidents…
Can all gauge the reflections & understand what the mirror wants to express?
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder; it’s not dependent on the face or dress 🙂
There’s the inner beauty and many more attributes that may not be physical or visible!
This short poem requests us to be careful!
This is a 100 words composition- a short poem that expresses the power of writing.
Martin Luther had said- “If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.”
The author has expressed her version how writing makes her feel powerful and like a change-agent…
