The resume isn’t readable

We bet it will never come to your mind to propose a recruiter to sit on the chair that stays upside down. Why do some of the employees write the resume that is extremely uncomfortable to read? The resume is standard

There are so much resume templates on the Internet that writing the resume isn’t a creative task anymore. You can take the template, change a few words and dates, and the work is done.

It’s easy, isn’t it? The truth is that following this strategy you make the typical document: Your personality isn’t visible here. The typical resume tells nothing about your unique career path, your experience, and your personal features. Do you want an employer to see you as a ‘typical’ applicant? If not, tailor the resume to the vacancy. Use the job description to identify the most important issues worth mentioning and highlighting. Remember that an employer is interested to know not only about the set of functions you are able to perform. He/she is interested to see your personality as well: Your motivation, your manner to communicate, what you do when you face the problem, etc. Your resume should be special for every single employer.

The resume is cheating

Nobody is delighted by dealing with a person who is insincere and trying to hide something. The same applies to the recruiters’ impression about the applicants.

If you have some weak points in your career, the better way is not to hide them but to explain.

For example, if you have the gaps in your career mention this fact in the cover letter and give the reason. Then show that you weren’t standing still while being out of a job. List the courses you were attending that time, the volunteer projects you took part at, and the work you performed as a freelancer. That’s the way to build the trust between you and an employer while cheating is a dead end.
