Nobody knows exactly how life takes you from one situation to another. We do have lots of planning to make it as a bed of roses, but when it slaps you on face with a brick, little you could prepare to endure the suffering.
These days for every problem, there seems to be a solution from technology.
Those who curse Delhi in summer forget everything with the onset of winter. It is a pleasant place to be outdoors from November to March and worship the Nature. So, in the coming days, you will see more of my photo-shots in this Blog.
Dale Carnegie is one of the foremost personality development gurus of 20th century in America. Wikipedia dubbed him as writer and developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
America calls Deepak Chopra as New Age Spiritual Sage who brought spirituality to the centre-stage of everyday life in United States. This Indian-American doctor worked tirelessly in his almost entire career correlating the science’s unanswered questions with Eastern Spirituality.
If there is any man who brought cartoon to mainstream journalism in India, it is none other than R.K. Laxman whose cartoons are full of humour and thought provoking. Lived a fuller life of 93, Laxman is synonymous with cartoons in the newspaper world.
In my childhood, I used to change notebooks so frequently in an attempt to show improved handwriting to my teachers and feel elated before the class. That attitude remained well after high-school years and I used to carry rough notebook to college and took notes in that only to copy back in the concerned note book in leisure hours or at home. Still I don’t know why I get so much joy when I write on paper. But after graduation and settling in life with a jov, for more than a decade I was out of sync with this forgotten passion, as handwriting was limited just for putting signature on salary rolls and bank transactions. Since I was not in re-creative mode I burned out with my go-office only life style.
It seems decades may take to bring awareness among majority of folks to maintain cleanliness on public places. Even some educated are no different from village folks in throwing filth on roads in the public gaze.
Government is desperately trying to alter the city folks behaviour, but Delhi has to travel years to have clean roads, especially public toilets. I wrote several posts on this subject expressing my anguish.
When you wake up in the morning, pray to the Almighty only peace and beyond that ask nothing ! The reason is when you are in peace, you could handle any situation. Peace means composure. Not crippled by the circumstance, but raise above it and find solution.
One of the most essential qualities to earn love and respect in the Bloggers’ World is to have signature style on your expression. Whatever the language you choose, the expression must be of high order. It is simply not writing in a haphazard manner. In the process of increasing the frequency of blog posts, one should not compromise on the quality of writing.
In its April, 7, 2014, one of India’s prominent English News Magazine, India Today had brought out one interesting story : 10 Medical Marvels poised to save your life. In that insightful article which enumerated the new medical advances/procedures/gadgets /tests that will knock at our hospital doors, one sub-story Map Your Genes caught my eye.
There was a time in my life when I was fully invaded by West’s Self Help Books and for some months, Oriental Philosophy which include the Ancient Indian Texts which were in my shelves did not ignite me to read until September, 2013 when I found this masterpiece which reboot my whole perspective.
Western culture fascinates me on one metric. They have separate days signifying each occasion. Maybe the secret behind is this. Live each day deliberately. A week back, when I was near run out stuff to write for my blog, an aimless Google Search landed me to a place which I did not actually remember, but it flashed this fact : October, 16 is Boss’s Day. When I quickly checked with Wikipedia, it retrieves with the following informati
The purpose of any App is specific to a certain need. On Android Platform, millions of apps are made daily, majority are free downloads and some paid downloads. When any app is first made, the developers continue to work on it to make it’s interface and functioning more user friendly thereby upgrade versions of app continue to hit Play Store every moment.
Great lives give great inspiration. If wisdom of ages is properly archived, it would definitely help to succeeding generations. The book ‘Light from many Lamps, edited by Lillian Eichler Watson’ is a perfect blend of wisdom of East and West. It is a storehouse of inspiring quotes with caricature of world’s renowned personalities.
Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers;
The fruits of technology are limitless. Internetopened up floodgates for new avenues to businesses. It has helped to create new markets, new companies, new professions which not only increased the economic activity but wiped out the limits of our imagination.
In October, 2011, when I wrote a post on my friend Mr. Ali who is my colleague and fellow writer, I began the article with this great quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson : In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him. (you can read my article on Ali here )
It was a pleasant winter afternoon in Delhi. My mood was upbeat with the cool weather and Sun soaked body in the park where I sat with a book to read poems of Subramania Bharati.
I could vividly remember what exactly pushed me to buy each book in my personal library which
was started way back in 1990. The collection of these books mirrors my steady shift in taste from Eastern Spirituality to Wastern Self Help genre with equal thrust to Sciences and Humanities. Majority of these books are either Best Sellers or somewhere I read about them in a newspaper/ magazine.
The other day, I visited Ansal Plaza, a shopping mall which is hardly one-and-half kilometers from my South Delhi home, with family. It was a fun-filled evening I could say. For five years, I had not paid attention to visit there and only by my daughter’s force I had to visit.
After Swami Vivekananda and Swami Rama Tirtha swayed the American soil with Eastern Wisdom, it was Paramahansa Yogananda who went to US in 1920 to represent India in the international congress of Religious Liberals. Like Vivekananda did with his famous Chicago speech, Yogananda deeply engraved the Eastern Thought on American minds.
I was pretty amazed last night when I read that former Chief Election Commissioner of India T.N. Seshan had an elephant’s memory and he could quote verbatim long passages, be it from scriptures or prose or poetry. This former I.A.S officer from South India was labelled as the hardest nut to crack in the political circles of his time.
Cleanliness is next to godliness. This year’s Gandhi Jayanthi : 2nd October, 2014 is different from past years to that extent that India started cleanliness drive with a missionary zeal lead by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who himself held the broom stick to sweep the roads.
The other day a popular English news magazine carried a story regarding display of royal Indian jewels across the world this fall. The story mentioned six royal style icons and their jewellery that made news.
Top amongst them is Maharani Gayatri Devi who was admired for her charm and beauty and featured in the list of Vogue’s Ten Most Beautiful Women of the World.
The other day when I met my friend and tried to show him my blog on his computer, I got jitters. His computer was found dead slow. When I asked him whether he knows the ritual to keep his computer fast, he put a blank face. Then I realized that majority of folks are not that much computer literates. Though, they know the basic computing and browsing, beyond that either they are not aware of it or don’t show interest to figure out the problem. They think that it is the look out of computer mechanic/ technician.
I was virtually in a cocoon for so many years and not able to translate some of my ideas into actions.
One such idea which is on the back of my mind for so long is to form a Book Club. I wish to bind book lovers of a city/ town where I am living, into an interactive community to act as knowledge vehicle so that the benefits are mutual and help to achieve success in life.
Nobody knows when one sleeps where he or she goes. It is still a mystery to scientists.
Who don’t like sleep ? Nobody ! But, majority of people care little to this important daily activity.
What is sleep ? It is defined as a natural periodic state of rest for the mind and body, in which the eyes usually close and consciousness is completely or partially shut off. Though scientists have done considerable research on sleep disorders and sleep states in mammals including humans, there seems to be no clear-cut answer why ‘sleep’ is essential and continuous research is still going on.
I already mentioned in my earlier posts as well that I am a bookworm.
In fact, I am not in this writing business for a large chunk of my life i.e. Till 2011, though such instinct was in seed form in my boyhood days.
