The term is self explanatory. Social Responsibility means responsible or accountable towards the society. Everyone who exists within the society may it be an Organization or an individual is responsible towards the society because we are the part of it and in some way or other, we are taking from the society so it becomes our duty to return to the society.

We always have this perception that any organisation operates for profit and revenue, which is very true. But still they return to the society through the advertisements they display to promote their product. They target the emotional quotient of the consumer and create a place in consumer’s heart.

Now the question arises, what are we doing to accomplish our social responsibility? Most of us just wonder what we exactly can do to achieve our social responsibility. There are several simple actions and deeds which can help us to achieve the same.

By keeping the city or place clean we can literally return to the society in some way. Many may think, I am promoting ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and what’s the harm, if I am doing so? IS cleanliness not everyone’s responsibility? By taking care of minute things like not spitting on the road or public place, not throwing the used garbage like cold drink cans or chips, chocolates wrapper, etc openly on the road we can actually accomplish our duty towards the society.

We often feel that these basic etiquettes have to be taught to the illiterate people and all the more it is sad to see that majority of the so called cultured and educated, rich people are also oblivious towards this situation. It’s not news to see the so called rich people just pulling down the car window and throwing the garbage openly on the road. The question is, how much does it take to keep a carry bag in the car to dump all the garbage in it and later throwing in the waste bin? But the point is, who cares?

Trust me, if you don’t care today for the society, the society won’t care for your hierarchy tomorrow. By polluting the air and environment, we may probably be keeping ourselves safe as we may not die so soon of these poisonous gas and air but the coming generation is not going to survive for sure!.

Think today, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is not just a campaign run by the respected PM, but it is our Social Responsibility too.

The respected current Prime Minister of India launched this scheme under the slogan ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ which soon gained massive publicity and attracted many. People got emotional and moved by this ‘abhiyaan’. The question is why this slogan had to be introduced? Why does the Government urge people to save the girl child? Many more such questions emerge in people’s mind. Many Government and Non-Government Organizations are running for the welfare of girl child.

Needless to say, there are still many states in India which kill the girl child in the mother’s womb. One of such states is Haryana. But there was one couple in the same state which saved their girl 23 years ago and named her ‘Sakshi Malik’. Who knew, this girl child would bring not only pride to her parents but to the whole nation.

In the Rio Olympic 2016 season, when the entire country was eyeing upon so many players to bring at least one medal, this Indian freestyle wrestler aggravated everyone’s expectation and turned the match in mere 10 seconds. Not only that she is the first player to bring home an Medal, but she is the first ever female wrestler to win an Olympic medal.

There is another such player named P V Sindhu, who has again brought broad smile on everyone’s lips in her home country. Kudos Girls!

Its mesmerizing to see that India is celebrating at the present and feeling proud because of its’ two ‘Betis’ (daughters) whose parents allowed them to come to this world and nurtured them without any differentiation.

The difference is not between a girl and a boy, it’s in the mind. The way one perceives things, would conduct accordingly. Let the child remain a child, not a boy or a girl and then see how better can a beti be! Let’s change the mindset and promote our girls to bring more name and fame to our country.

Love for anything is good but obsession is always harmful. With the advancement of technology and craze for mobile inspired the web developers to introduce a device on mobile called ‘front camera’ which allows people to click themselves.

It’s not required to describe the benefit of such camera as even a child knows how to operate it especially on a mobile and the best part is that that you don’t have to be dependent on others to click yourself. This feature on the mobile or camera fancies people to click themselves anywhere and everywhere.

Lately, we get to hear about many accidents occurring because of Selfie craze. It is bizarre to learn that you love yourself so much that you click selfie but you are so careless about yourself that you don’t realize the death trap arising out of it. Getting mesmerized by the beauty of nature like hill stations, mountains, lakes, fountains, or man-made beauty like palaces, forts, monuments, etc. and the wish to capture those moments is a natural phenomena. But endangering your life for such craze is not advisable at any cost.

Electronic devices are meant to simplify people’s life not create threat to life. But unfortunately, we take everything for granted almost everything and above all, our own life. Call it a trend, fashion or competition, now-a-days, everyone likes to pose, click and post on the social media. They want to stay connected with the friends and relatives, and the desire to share what they do inspires them to capture every moment and post on social media.

Nobody is against any trend or habit, after all it’s a democratic country and we are free to choose our activities, but we have to be very sensible and careful especially conscious while we are in public places.

Children are the mirror image of their parents; they have some inbuilt qualities, nature and personality adopted from their parents. Children observe and learn and accordingly copy what they observe. Nowadays children are very unpredictable; the change in their interest and lethargic approach towards everything has made them careless. They have become more stubborn, the adaptability percentage has gone down and some children become very difficult to be handled or managed. Parents know their children in the best way, their likings and disliking, their habit and nature, more importantly what can calm their children down.

It is also important to educate the children at home because it gives an opportunity to the parents to spend time with their children. This quality time would increase the level of confidence and security in the child’s mind. The parents would know, what is been taught at the school and they won’t be oblivious of the nature of education their child is getting. We have seen many children feel anxious and pressurised because of the ever increasing competition which gradually develops pessimism in the child’s mind which may result into fatal consequences, as lethal as suicide in some cases. The only way of avoiding such circumstances is to speak. Communication heals many problems and a child cannot have a better friend than his/her own parents. Now-a- days, majority of the time spent by the child is either outside or Internet so it becomes the parents’ duty and responsibility to take out some quality time for their children and nurture their life.

Conclusion:

It is true that everything can’t be taught at home. The formal education and training can be taken only from the authorised institutes. The certificates, degrees, etc. can be obtained from the formal education centres only but basic education starts at home where the child is prepared for the school and the world.  Parents can give their children life lessons too which will help them in becoming good human beings.

There was a time when parents used to give maximum protection to their children and would not allow them to go to the park or any place which let the child get exposed to soil, dirt, garbage, etc. Some gave hygiene reasons and some wanted to protect the children from direct heat, dust, etc. to save them from viral, sneezing, cold cough, etc.

But are we actually able to save them? This weird mindset of parents made our children turn into a loner. The children of today tend to spend maximum time on net, TV, mobile, etc. They tend to avoid crowd, not like talking much or mingling with people, which in away may lower their self confidence and adaptability.

This is the reason, the parents now want to learn from mothers and mothers-in-law, the way they brought up their children. Just a little bit of casual approach but overseeing the children would help them develop acceptability of others and themselves. Let the children touch the dirt, soil, plants, grass. Let them fall in the park and get up themselves. Let the talk to strangers but watch them diligently. Let them grow themselves so that they can differentiate between the good and the bad.

Surely, parents feel good to see their children happy and these activities would make the children self reliant and confident. Make a regular visit to the local park, shops, stores, etc. Parents should also develop these habits and shouldn’t just perform the formality of visiting the park. See the children smile and feel happy.
