Revealed: Why Bigg Boss celebs fail to make it big after the show!

Bigg Boss may be India’s number one reality show! But history has it that most celebs do not know how to handle the instant fame once they attain stardom from it. They are unable to propel themselves to the next level and fade and fizzle out, or return to their past status over time. So why does this happen?

“It is not only important to be a star, but crucial to maintain the buzz and constantly grow from it. And that’s where the maximum ‘BB returns’ falter,” remarks Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar who has handled the media for a full 20 contestants since the first season.

“The instant success and newfound fan base, largely consisting of diehard, fanatical, nasty and fickle-minded idolizing Twitterati, goes to the heads of many. They cease professional PR activity after the show, assuming they have arrived. In all this adulatory frenzy, what they don’t realize is that Bollywood industry circles work on different parameters,” analyzes the public relations expert.

“After enjoying the powerful Bigg Boss platform, the participants forget to draw up a PR strategy to sustain the momentum required to build their careers further. But the worst scenario is for those who lack the knowledge, focus, vision, guidance, contacts and connections to promote their careers after the humongous hype,” explains the publicist.

True! Given the kind of publicity the contestants get, including weekly attention from megastar host Salman Khan, it would be very important to streamline and channelize their future imaging and branding plans with foresight. Even the show’s winners have lacked that.

Shocking! When SRK was slapped by a woman in Mumbai

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made quite a few candid confessions at the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Fan’. While many were amusing, one of them came as a shocker!

While replying to a fan’s question on whether he came by flight or train the first time he travelled to Mumbai, the actor revealed that he came to Mumbai by train and was even slapped by a woman on that journey!

Narrating the ordeal, SRK said, “I came by train for the first time when I came to Mumbai. The train would turn into a local after entering Mumbai which I was not aware of. So I did not let a few people sit on my berth saying that it is mine, ‘I paid for it.’ I did offer it to a lady, though, saying, ‘you can sit but I won’t let the men with you sit on my berth’. And that lady slapped me real hard saying that ‘it isn’t yours, it is everybody’s.”

Not quite the welcome one would expect into a new city!

In ‘Fan’, Khan will be seen playing two roles, one of a superstar Aryan Khanna and the other of his fan Gaurav, who comes across as his lookalike.

After the teaser of the film and the anthem track ‘Jabra Fan’ gave the impression that it was a ‘sweet and simple’ kind of film, the trailer might have surprised his fans, considering that this ‘fan’ gets agitated after an unpleasant experience with his favourite star and wants to get even with him.

However, Shah Rukh Khan denied that the ‘fan’ character he plays bears resemblance to his ‘psycho’ characters in films ‘Darr’ and ‘Baazigar’.

Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra, ‘Fan’ releases on April 15.

It has been an everyday occurence. before it was about loving and living toegther but these days the news is all about breakups, cheating and more. Why is it that these couples who have got everything they need – fame, money and beautiful partners cheat, fight and breakup? I think that affects the society too as young adults will be influenced by the fact that breakups are okay or an everyday occurence.

Salman Khan and Portia, the Daniel comes to judgment on the final verdict of a humane judgement ! i.indiaopines.com

submitted 2 years ago by in Bollywood

Read/Discuss. Details
Article Details

Salman Khan and the Daniel comes to judgment and the final verdict! A pedestrians view SOS Harish Salve!

Me Lord the Government stands guilty at 35%, the Police at 25%, Lack of ideas in Mumbai Muni. Corpn. 15%, Pavement squatters themselves to be blamed at 15% and Sallu bhai at a sad 10% ! My Lord, I shall substantiate my points now to demolish bit by bit the fashionable wannabes’ stand, who just wish to do some lip service in their shallow siding of the poor and downtrodden!

This is just a point of view and why should anyone be closed not to mull over other points of opinion, regardless of where the final decision goes, as that is about fate and not in our hands! Like in a management class, we learn, there are more than a few ways to tackle one single situation; the final plunge can always be taken after mulling over all of them, then take a decision on the best balanced one, but do give Salman a chance!

So what are the options over here with Salman Khan? Lets give an ace journalist the first say. Is it not an artificial rant of an Oxford returned journalist, well you got to decide and I’d quote Sagarika Ghose – “ When a rich drunk person, without license drives a SUV over poor people, kills one, hurts 3, he won’t be punished – if he’s a celebrity. Farcical!” Well she junks Salman’s claim to freedom.

Who will tell her, to forgive is Divine, and to err is Human and yes, it is was an accident! The Oxford dictionary defines ‘accident’ an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly & unintentionally, typically resulting in damage, death or injury!

This is extremely sad that people wish to take pot shots at rich and the famous, to find out how popular their tweets become and do some arm chair socialism talk. Where were they before the accident – do they ever raise the topic of slum dwellers, their abject miserable lives and how they could help these less fortunate ones; years after years pass and all these 13 years after the accident have also passed, have you ever spoken of the homeless, try and get them some night shelter to hide their ignoble heads in?

Goddamnit, for God’s sake, it’s a Road a pavement, not a house or a night shelter! A road, supposed to have trucks, buses, cars and all sorts of vehicles at different speeds, where no one rules out the possibility of a road accident, which occurs by the dime and dozen in our huge big country, all due to an error of human judgment! Its common sense that you skirt / invite trouble if you are to sleep by the roadside, its for one’s asking; come on, don’t you find it suicidal to sleep in a pavement of a busy Mumbai road! And don’t you realize that this is very much a State fault, it’s a multi – fault line! Roti, Kapdaa aur Makaan are a destitutes’ right, which have not been provided to the under privileged after 67 years of independence!

Secondly, tell me why the night patrol Police cannot be taken to task for not ensuring the pavements / roads are clear and not used as an open night shelter and shoe them off from such vulnerable spots, so that these squatters may not expose themselves to such a dangerous situation! Is it not something like asking for trouble … sleeping in pavements, so close to the road would you allow it too anyone known to you poor or rich! So why can’t we support the very correct point of view of Abhijeet Bhattacharya barring the harsh words which too are part of the bitter truth !

Ms Ghose, why have you not addressed the bigger problems all these years that you are now singing and tweeting a ‘be-sura’ tweet; is it coz’ its fashionable or are you truly following social developments very seriously and your heart bleeds for the downtrodden! I ask why, why these careless rants, its just not necessary! Please read your pre-scripted news on television, which you are good at, don’t pass uncalled for, unsubstantiated, immature judgments!

And my last point, thirdly – why the local municipal corporation have not a.) provided night shelters b.) Why are parks not used to sleep out at night c.) Why stadia’s can’t be opened up to house the hapless at night d.) In rainy seasons why buses can’t be used to give overnight shelters to the homeless!

My simple point is why these relevant questions cannot be asked to the politicians, instead of pushing Salman to the dungeons!

In fact this case should be used to have a catalytic effect on some of the growth issues of the state, which has obviously not taken place in ages … and this accident could be a turning point in the fate of these slum dwellers; while it should be made into a big issue for giving homes to the homeless and simultaneously have a zero tolerance to any new squatters who should not be allowed to invade Mumbai roads where accidentally a poor xyz celebrity and the hapless victims get into another sad fateful incident!

Now, coming to the question as to, why we are talking about soft peddling Salman’s case? Khuda Qasam, Salman ek nek dil insaan with a Golden heart, how can you take that away from him and how can you do him in for 5 years, impossible! No one wants even a 5 months or 5 weeks term for him, for that matter! In case you have to satiate your judgmental egos and come out with the great theory of – “ Drunken driving is a serious offence, like a person going on a killing spree, he should not be allowed to go scot free. ” Well then give him an exemplary punishment for 5 days and then release him! But, why this special treatment for him, you’ll ask? So here you are … TOI brought out recently, top 10 Humanitarian contributions and I quote:

Salman Khan is amongst the most charitable stars in Bollywood, he is famous for his large heartedness, spurt of on the moment reactions. Here are the points:

  1. Santa Salman : For Salman Khan everyday seems to be Christmas, as he plays the role of year-round Santa Claus to perfection. There is a famous story of a child, who refused to eat until Salman Khan came in person to meet him. The worried parents ran helter-skelter until Sallu heard of it; true to his trademark style, he stopped shooting and made a dash to meet the kid and grant him his wish. No mean achievement!
  1. Help to destitute prisoners :  Salman Khan learned that many prisoners were unable to secure their release from prison. The reason being, they simply did not have money to pay for the legal fine slapped on them. In order to reunite 400 jailed convicts with their families, Salman Khan paid nearly 40 Lakhs through his NGO Being Human.

3. Homeless Kids :

Salman Khan always has had soft corner for homeless kids. Perhaps part of the reason is his own fractured childhood. Being Human is majorly involved in the upliftment for the poor and homeless kids.

4. Charity for Needy

Salman Khan’s generosity for those hit by natural disaster or in dire need of money is not so well known. His charity organization, Being Human, donated Rs.50 Lacs to flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, besides victims of Bihar floods. He also donated 200 lenses for visually challenged in Sri Lanka. He instantly donated Rs.45 lakh to an old age home.

  1. Cancer Patients

Salman Khan has always been leading and advocating the rights of cancer patients & need to provide them with timely and affordable treatment. He has helped patients with dire needs.

  1. Child – Labour Free India

Salman Khan used his star-appeal and the support of his legions of fans nation-wide, to help eradicate India of child labour. Bachpan Bachao Andolan was a thought headed by them, but Salman Khan’s association, lent weight, gravity and width to the campaign.

  1. Bone Marrow Donation

A little girl Pooja suffering from a life threatening disease was in need of Bone marrow donor. On learning of her requirement, Salman Khan asked his entire football team to go and donate, but when they backed out, the superstar himself landed up at the hospital with his brother Arbaaz Khan and donated his bone marrow.

  1. Clothes, Merchandise, Lifestyle, and Café

Being Human’s business model – for lack of a better word – is based on generating money to finance its charitable activities. It also plans to have larger lifestyle stores and also enter into the cafe’ business. As Salman Khan has often said, he wants Being Human to be his legacy, to be much bigger than him and eventually outlast him.

  1. Never Signed a Cheque

This story comes from the superstar’s sister, Alvira Khan. She has stated that Salman Khan had never signed a check until 6 months back. He hates money matters, has no idea of all his assets, including a three bungalows farmhouse in Panvel, several properties in and around Mumbai. He enjoys the freedom to concentrate on work, never to be bothered about bank accounts, investments and properties which his father handles.

  1. Mr. 10%

Salman Khan is not in the business of making a 10% cut in the under table deals. Instead, he keeps just 10% of his earnings for himself and donates the rest to charity. Not surprisingly, his lawyers pleaded before the court that Salman Khan had donated a massive amount of 42 crores in just 3 years.

Salman Khan thus is a giver. God has given him the contraptions to be a HERO, so what can he do, but be one!! He is not a selfish person. He has shown bigger than life large heartedness and what he can do, an ordinary person like you and me cannot! If I was in his place you could have thrown me into jail for a few years I wouldn’t care … In fact I wish I could offer myself if that would condone Salman’s!

And now for a bombshell! There is a niche audience who have the information of a corporate’s son in his new Austin Martin (priced at a whopping 1.5 crores) very recently spotted, driven at a break neck speed only to crash near a bridge, killing 2 persons outright on this Mumbai road! A newspaper reporting was taken off at the nick of the moment, not a single channel ran the news (as all them are controlled by the megalo businessman ‘n owner of RIL).

Now, this corporate businessman has the well known reputation of taking out one rupee from every Indian’s pocket everyday, thus translating to 1 billion rupees everyday; and then he commits a crime in getting his son’s criminal sins gagged! HE KILLS, GAGS AND GOES SCOT FREE, MS. SAGORIKA GHOSE WHY SHOULD SALMAN THE MAD HATTER, ALWAYS ACT GOD, DONATE AND GIVE AWAY SO MUCH AND BEAR A PAIN FOR 13 YEARS’ TORTURE, THEN WHY CAN’T HE BE PARDONED!!

THE CURSE ONE DAY WILL FALL ON THE RICH BUT SALMAN IS A GOOD SAMARITAN TO THE BONE, AND EACH AND EVERY POOR PERSONS’ “DUA” / BLESSING IS WITH HIM! SO PLEASE START THINKING GOOD ABOUT THIS ONE MAN ANGELIC ARMY!

His good deeds far outweigh his short comings, so there has to be mercy and there are no two ways about it! He has kept millions entertained, brought smiles to the faces of so many hapless, how can we forget him as a great gift from God to all mankind? Answer these few questions and you shall get your replies! May God bless this man! For me he is just poor fellow, victim of circumstance!

What is done cannot be undone, so the punitive action that is to be meted out to a man of as great a following, talent, and capacity, obviously God’s chosen child, cannot just be the guillotine / lynch / or a jail. As an exemplary judgment he should be made to take complete responsibility of the victim’s family, give them a good life as a compensation for the rest of their living. As a matter of fact a new law could be enacted for the dream world merchants and the likes of Salman for such an unintentional crime, who are very capable of earning handsomely! They should be made to earn and voluntarily donate 10% of their earnings, which should get deposited to the court every month for disbursing to those hapless victims’ families!!

We got to stop cribbing about rich and famous rant, Salman is not just another spoilt brat of a rich man hurtling down Mumbai roads; acknowledge the celluloid Hero is a real life Hero too – as Salman Khan is, a true larger than life Human being worshipped by the poor and loved by his artistic fraternity – men or women, some of them rich, bold and beautiful! Its not just about another hit and run case!

Why is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looking so tired? st1.bollywoodlife.com

Is the Jazbaa shoot taking a toll on the actress? A picture can speak a thousand words and this one surely did!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s beauty has been described in many ways by many men and women. She is one of the most beautiful women on earth and we can’t agree more. That was also one of the reasons why we were so eager to see her back onscreen. Fortunately, the actress gave her nod to Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa; so very soon she will be on 70mm once again. But guess the shoot is turning out to be too strenuous for Aishwarya. A recent picture of her makes her look tired and tad sleep-deprived.

It won’t be wrong to say that Aishwarya’s eyes are her assets. They are glorious, light coloured and extremely expressive. Hence, the same couldn’t hide the actress’s tiredness during the second schedule wrap of Jazbaa. It is big and bright, but it seems weary. Although she isn’t devoid of makeup as is evident, it failed to conceal her tired out face.

Aamir Khan Opines on AIB Roast, Calls It An Violent Act!

Always known to be a man who speaks his mind, and being assertive about every aspect of his life, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan had a thing or two to say about the very controversial AIB Knockout Roast starring Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, among others.

At yesterday’s Youth for Governance 2015 against corruption event, he was asked by a member of the press about his take on the extremely popular, yet severely criticised show that was promoted on Youtube.

“I was deeply affected by that. I completely believe in the freedom of speech. But we have to understand that we all have a certain responsibility,” he said in response.

“There was a lot of violence in that event. Violence need not be just physical, it can be verbal, it can be emotional. I am not impressed with “gaalis”, that age has long gone. I am not longer 14, that I will laugh at someone giving a “gaali”. I am not impressed by bad language,” he continued.

Raising concerns over increasing corruption in the country, Aamir Khan has joined My Right, My Responsibility themed Youth for Governance 2015.

What’s So ‘Vulgar’ About The AIB Roast?

“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world was awake India shut her eyes to life and freedom. A moment came, not rare in history, when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, lost utterance.” Pandit Nehru just shuddered in his grave.

AIB roast controversy

I am referring to the infamous FIR against a team of artists – comedians, and also citizens of India. The very fact that #AIBNationalShame and #WeStandByAIBKnockout have been top trends on Twitter in India speaks volumes about how the threat to freedom of speech and expression is one of our most crucial battles.

Before stating my opinion on the debate, let’s get our basics right. First things first, the genre of insult comedy is self-explanatory – it’s humour derived from insulting another person. The genre has been quite popular internationally for decades now, started as early as 1949 by The Friars Club. So, when the All India Bakchod organized the AIB Knockout in January featuring Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh with Karan Johar as the roastmaster, the first question which came to my mind was – “are we there yet?”.

I thought we were. We were finally “saying in public what we say in parties”, as Rohan Joshi said on the show. They were not talking about something ‘alien’ or out-of-the-box. But the breakthrough can be seen in their attempt to initiate a dialogue in public on issues that we have conveniently confined to our private comfort zones. Their sword was humour, the kind we indulge in with our friends. Stand up comedy is a form of resistance. Even when some of the jokes were directed towards homosexuals, in a way they were a step towards addressing the issue of homophobia. That was their way of entering into conversation. So I see it as bringing a self-actualization principle, and of us as rising to a new conscience.

The argument is not about acquiring a feigned sense of modernity by aping something from the “western culture”. It was “different” from the usual run-off-the-mill comedy, and refreshing. Judging it within the framework of a traditional comedy is completely missing the point.

I think the medium and the demographic placement of the artists also needs to be looked at, the AIB is a YouTube channel, entitled to their opinion. There is a certain kind of creative freedom and freedom of expression that the internet not only entails but also necessitates. One cannot ignore the operative mechanism which grants one form of entertainment a primetime slot on television, while ‘the other’ resort to more permissive and liberal platforms such as the web. Usually, not essentially, it is true that thoughts which do not cohere with the dominant ideology harbour themselves on the internet. Away from state-censorship and corporate pressure, the internet becomes the platform for the audience to enjoy those pockets of entertainment.

According to a global public opinion poll conducted by the BBC World Service in 2010, majority of the users, including the Indian users, strongly agreed that the Internet had brought them more freedom, they saw it as a fundamental right, and it gave them the space to express their opinion. So, it is not as if people are repressed and that’s why they avail entertainment on the internet. That is not the principle at work here. On the contrary, it is the social filtering and moral policing, which is the most regressive and redundant form of control as manifested through the FIR.

If one looks at the entertainment presented to us in prime time TV, the hypocrisy of the system is exposed. How about our very own home-grown desi Russel Peters, our most celebrated and loved show Comedy Nights With Kapil. Isn’t the humour on the show misogynistic, sexist, racist, homophobic and insensitive to gender ? But we laugh out loud!

The dispute is really the fact that the state cannot be selective about such actions. Threat to freedom of expression is the most disgraceful thing to be happening in the world’s largest democracy. The threat to creative freedom is perhaps the worst fear of an artist.

The humour on the AIB Knockout was sharp. Could it have been done in a “less offensive” manner? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m not advocating “their brand of humour”, but intent and context are two crucial aspects to be kept in mind when one discourses upon what is it that constitutes the funny. Say they were bad, scorn them. But by maintaining silence on the charges against them, you are siding with the oppressor and making them powerful.

Remember that the operative principle here is : “I do not find your joke funny, but I will defend to death your right to crack it

The Bollywood Movie- 2 States was released last year in 2014 and made it to the 100-crore-at-Box-Office-club.
It’s based on the novel of the same name by popular author, Chetan Bhagat. He was also associated with the film-making process. The movie is faithful to the book. However, it’s an abridged version and some key characters like Dolly are missing in the movie.
Krish and Ananya are wonderfully portrayed by the young rising stars- Arjun Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. The movie, like the book, is about the Locha-e-Ulfat (problem of love) that happens when IIM MBA students Krish and Ananya meet.
What happens next? To learn more, read my review 🙂

But what puzzles me (and perhaps many other people too, if I go by some of the comments and discussions going on in social media and also on the basis of a few reviews of the film) is the choice of political context in which the story of Haider has been situated. This article presents a list of seven points which made me wonder whether this time around the filmmaker’s love for Shakespeare has taken a backseat to his politics in this third adaptation of the bard’s plays. – See more at: http://letbeautybeyourconstantideal.blogspot.in/2014/10/when-movie-gets-political-case-of-haider.html

Watched Tamasha today. The concept of the movie is really good. It is like an amalgamation of art and commercial cinema. However, towards the end it fizzles out. Imtiyaz Ali tried his best to bring both of those together, but missed it.

Both the leads, have done a great job. While Ranbir has got a bigger role, and a very complex at that, it is Deepika who shines. She could ahve got a bigger role.

I gave 2.5/5 while reviewing this on my blog

People pleaser no more! Priyanka Chopra admits she is 'not that naive'

In a candid chat with mid-day, Priyanka Chopra reveals she is ‘not that naive’ any longer, but tries not to let herself become cynical and bitter

Priyanka Chopra has not forgotten to have fun in spite of her mad schedule and constant shuttling between Canada and India. Excerpts from a quick chat with PeeCee:

You recently hosted a party at your Montreal home for your Quantico colleagues…
I can’t even begin to tell you how crazy it is. We are always running against time. We have shot 13 episodes in five months. That’s about nine days per episode. Now, episode 10 is being aired and we are shooting episode 12 – it is that close. So, yes, for the sake of a break, I got everyone on the sets to come home one night for a party. We got a DJ too.

It must have been crazy playing diverse characters – Kashibai (in Bajirao Mastani) and Alex Parrish (in Quantico) – almost simultaneously.
It was absolute madness. I was a lost case. I felt like a schizophrenic. Thankfully, i could slip in and out because even here (Canada), the writers are amazing. And there, of course, we have Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a genius filmmaker. You know, I picked up this role because Kashibai’s character is so heartbreakingly lovely. It is nice to be part of retelling the history that people have forgotten. I am so different from what Kashibai was. So, it was kind of fun creating her… with zero make-up and light eyed lenses, because she was a Maharashtrian Brahmin and everything had to be kept natural. Sanjay sir would not even allow the use of electric curlers on my hair. It had to be curled through hand. He didn’t want to compromise on anything. We looked at old movies to get ideas. Besides, I had to wear that 11-yard saree; it was so difficult to carry it around that I begged him to make the trail smaller. And then he did make it slightly smaller. Kashibai is this naïve, child-woman character and it was nice playing her.

You were also like Kashibai, a naïve, child-woman when you entered this industry.
(Laughs) That’s true. You had seen me then. I was really naïve for at least seven to eight years after I got in here. I am a little wiser now. I don’t change myself for the world anymore now. Even though I am not that naïve, I try and not allow myself to get cynical and bitter. That’s me.

Well, looks like Kashibai is already a hit. We hear you were offered a R9-crore endorsement deal by an ethnic wear brand.
I won’t discuss the price point, but yes, there is a good offer. You know I have taken pride in doing such diverse roles… characters that are not the real me. I enjoy taking up characters which others might think is impossible for me to portray. I am the shyest person off screen, but when I get such roles, I change and become empowered.

People have raised objections to certain ways the characters in Bajirao Mastani have been portrayed.
We are telling stories about human beings. And what these three human beings (Bajirao, Mastani and Kashibai) went through 500-plus years ago, no one knows. It is the director’s vision of what might have happened. It is so difficult to tell such stories. I tell Sanjay sir that by now he must be used to such objections. I truly admire him for his work; he’s one of the greatest cinematic voices that we have in the country. I have travelled the world, but everywhere I go I really feel proud to say I belong to Bollywood. I walk around with a strut like a peacock. We are the most prolific film industry and people everywhere are fascinated by Bollywood. It is time we give ourselves that credit.

You mean we need to have a lot more self confidence?
I do. I have major self confidence because I am an actor in Bollywood first.

Deepika doesn't like comparisons between Ranveer and Ranbir

Actress Deepika Padukone finds comparisons between her rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh and ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor silly.

“It doesn’t irritate or anger me, I find it silly, as time and again they have to keep comparing everything. I have other co-stars like Irrfan Khan or Amitabh Bachchan, why not compare them,” Deepika told PTI.

“I have worked with all of them, but we conveniently pick Ranbir and Ranveer. I find it silly to keep comparing people or things,” she said.

Ranveer had earlier said he shares a “divine equation” with Deepika.

On being asked what relation she shares with Ranveer, Deepika said, “He is my best friend… He is someone I am extremely comfortable around. I can talk to him anything, I can be whatever I want to be with him.”

“He is very non-judgemental. He is very acceptive of the way people are. He is very loving person,” she added.

Kendall Jenner had 'really bad skin'

Reality TV personality Kylie Jenner says her elder sister Kendall had a terrible battle with “bad skin” when she was growing up.

Speaking to skin care brand Rodial’s founder Maria Hatzistefanis, Kylie said: “I never had bad skin but my sister had really bad skin growing up. And the only thing that really helped her was to find a good dermatologist.”

Despite having reasonable skin as a youngster, the 18-year-old reality TV personality believes the secret behind her flawless complexion is plenty of sunscreen and not touching your face too much.

“(My top tips are) sunscreen, washing your face every night, not touching your face as much and moisturise,” she said.

Ranveer Singh:Getting bald look was more satisfactory, practical

To get the perfect look of the Maratha emperor, actor Ranveer Singh choose to shave off his head even though he had an option of going for artificial head cover for his upcoming big release ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

“I decided to tonsure my head to look like Bajirao, though I had the option of using artificial head cover like other co-stars in the film, which was not a practical solution because it required one-and-half hour to apply before shooting and another one hour to remove it,” Ranveer said.

The ‘Band Baja Baaraat’ actor was in the city today for a dance event organised by the Lokmat Media Group.

“I thought it would be better to shave off. After tonsuring, I had the biggest satisfaction of living up to the expectation of the role, since I knew it will not affect my other films as Bajirao shooting continued for next one-and-half year,” he said.

The actor has essayed the role of the 17th century Maratha ruler with his “Ramleela” co-star Deepika Padukone as ‘Mastani’ and Priyanka Chopra playing Bajirao’s wife Kashi Bai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus project.

“I had left family, friends and mobile for about 21 days and confined myself to the room of a hotel in Juhu and completely immersed myself in the role. When I came out of the hotel, I was bubbling with enthusiasm and a completely changed Bajirao in me,” the 30-year-old actor said.

On the controversies surrounding the film, Ranveer said it is for the producer and the director to make their stand clear.

To a poser on parallels being drawn between his onscreen jodi with Deepika and the iconic pair of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol, Ranveer said the two pairs have a different appeal and fan following.

Superstar Akshay Kumar says that the story of massive evacuation of Indians from invaded Kuwait in 1990 on which his upcoming film “Airlift” is based should be in textbooks.

“If you browse through World Guinness Book of Records, the biggest air evacuation was done by our beloved country, India. And this is why I selected to do this subject as I wanted to bring it in front of everybody,” said Akshay at the Vaayu festival of NMIMS College here.

“I’ve always made a request that this big chapter should be there in our textbooks; It’s a very important chapter. We all know what Shah Jahan and Akbar did, but at least write what we (Indians) have done,” he said.

Hardest thing in 'Fitoor' was to pretend Tabu is my mother: Katrina

Actress Katrina Kaif, who will be seen playing Tabu’s daughter in the film “Fitoor”, says the hardest thing for her in the film to pretend that Tabu is her mother.

“The hardest thing in this film was pretending that Tabu is my mother; she does not look like my mother from any angle, she is like a friend. I enjoyed the days we spent together in the film,” she said in response to a query about the experience of working with Tabu in “Fitoor”.

“She is one of the warmest people and who is so down to earth. She is a phenomenal actress so, whenever you are in front of her, you should remember you should not get lost in her performance but, to contribute to it. We have been fortunate she was gracious enough to step in,” added Katrina.

Tabu stepped into Rekha’s shoes after she decided to make an exit from the film, which is an adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel “Great Expectations”.

About her role in the film, Katrina said: “For me the most important thing was to try and understand this girl’s (her character) mind… she has always been a complicated character is she manipulative, is she like that? .. for whatever reasons …we spent a lot of time discussing trying to give a life our interpretation to this character.”

Also starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Aditi Rao Hydari, Lara Dutta and Rahul Bhatt, “Fitoor” will hit the theaters on February 12.

Mainstream Hindi cinema witnessing change, says Shabana Azmi www.ilovenewz.com

Mainstream Hindi cinema witnessing change, says Shabana Azmi

Actress Shabana Azmi has said that mainstream Hindi cinema is witnessing a change from the stereotypical portrayal of mothers and other characters in earlier times.

“There is a change coming in mainstream Hindi cinema. Earlier, when there used to be a role of a mother, she would drop the thaali and scream ‘nahi’, an absolutely stereotypical role. And in Hindi films, there was always an attempt to wipe out all the details,” Azmi said at a press meet regarding the success of her film ‘Neerja’.

This has been changing now, she said, adding that if you see, in mainstream cinema we are locating our characters.

Azmi plays a role based on Rama Bhanot in the film, the mother of Neerja Bhanot (played by Sonam Kapoor), a flight attendant who laid her life in protecting passengers on a hijacked flight in 1986.

The relationship between her and Sonam has been one of the highlights of the film, having earned appreciation from critics and fans.

While there were numerous Punjabi mothers shown in Hindi films, many of them have been stereotypical with the accent, mannerisms and behaviour.

“For any character it is important that you play different types of characters, and in Neerja’s character, there was a Punjabiyat, but we didn’t blow trumpets about it, only a few lines of it were used, and people have appreciated it. That’s the way forward. The most delightful feeling is that numerous Punjabi mothers said that I looked exactly like them,” Azmi said.

She also said that she’s getting numerous compliments from people who said that she made them cry.

“Javed sahab cried a lot when he saw the trial; he was speechless for a substantial time. He then watched it in the theatre and again cried a lot there,” she responded on being asked if her husband Javed Akhtar also feels the same?

‘Neerja’ has done good business at the box-office, having earned more than Rs.50 crore at the box-office in its first week.

Whoa! Priyanka Chopra to turn into a superwoman? www.ilovenewz.com

Well, she already is one, thanks to her many achievements but guess it’s time now for her to don the same for reel

Priyanka Chopra is nothing short of a superwoman. She has been travelling to and fro India and LA for her show Quantico and Bajirao Mastani, which, let us tell you, is no mean task. She has been working round the clock and really hard for her two babies and we are really proud of her. When no one thought about cutting an English album that too with the help of musical giants of the west, she did it and when we were still adjusting ourselves to her rise in the music scene, she hit the American television screens as Alex Parrish! Can you now argue that she is not a superwoman? Guess that’s exactly why Force 2 director Abhinay Deo wants PC to be his supergirl!

According to a website, Deo has approached Chopra with the script and it seems things are moving really fast at that end. However, they are too clear about what superpowers to bestow on the actress. We feel time travel could be one since she keeps travelling in and out of the country often. We are sure there are many occasions that the actress must have missed due to her hectic schedule. Time travel will help her be at every event in her life. But guess it will all depend on the story of the film.

Although Shah Rukh Khan tried to be a superhero, it was only Hrithik Roshan who got accepted as one with the Krrish series. We wonder how the audience will react to PC turning into a badass woman with superpowers. So you tell us, what superpowers do you want PC to flaunt in this film?

King's Blow: SRK hits back at Hindutva moral cops

Shah Rukh Khan got embroiled in the “extreme intolerance` debate in the country after he expressed his views about the prevailing situation in the country, but the superstar says there is no need for him to prove his “secular` credentials.

Asked about the debate, the Bollywood “Badshah” said in an interview to ETV channel: “I really don’t know anything about this. I speak straight-forward, clear-cut and good things whenever I speak. And I feel I need not prove myself secular.”

“The logic is that if we want to move forward, we should not keep such things in our mind like sex differentiation, whether the person is fair or dark, which religion the person belongs to, which region the person hails from or which caste the person belongs to.”

Shah Rukh’s comment on “extreme intolerance” in India last month landed him in a soup, with leading BJP MP Yogi Adityanath comparing him to Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed, and another Hindutva proponent, Sadhvi Prachi, dubbing the actor a “Pakistani agent”.

Superstar Aamir Khan had to face a similar problem after he shared that his wife had suggested they leave the country.

The controversy was revisited by VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi on Tuesday when she attacked Shah Rukh and Aamir saying they are “tarnishing` the image of India through their comments on intolerance.

Shah Rukh feels there is no end to such “things`, and he has made a resolution — to talk about acting and films only.

“I have decided, I will discuss serious topics on a platform where I would be invited to discuss on that. But that is very rare. In most of the cases, people don’t invite me for discussion on serious topics. But it is not required to discuss on such topics during films and birthday.

“Because the platform is not correct. When I speak in such programmes, people take my half words and they are placed in a different context. So, I think it is better that actors on acting platform should talk about acting and films only,` said SRK, who is awaiting the release of his film “Dilwale`.

He added: “If someone tells me that he is more patriotic than me, then he is stupid. From which angle can someone justify himself to be more patriotic? There is no logic behind that. We suddenly start shouting that I am more patriotic than you. Actually, we all are patriotic.`

The 50-year-old, also a producer now, started his journey in showbiz from the small screen and made a mark in Bollywood with films like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, “Baazigar”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” and “My Name Is Khan”.

The actor asserts that he expressed his genuine feeling in the previous interview, which was tossed away as negative.

“I genuinely spoke that I will teach my children these things. Then someone asked me ‘Do you think such things are there?’ I replied, ‘It’s not there’.

“But it should not be there to move forward in life. I even told that some people will take it wrong and say that he is speaking like that… Who will be more thankful towards this nation than me,` asked Shah Rukh, who is married to Gauri and has three children.

Talking about Narendra Modi’s government, Shah Rukh heaped praise upon the prime minister, calling his governance “fantastic`.

“I think the developmental clause of his governance is fantastic. I am all for modernness and development. And it will be fantastic if he takes it up and makes it for the whole country,` he said.

Kangana shares a great equation with Aanand L Rai

Director Aanand L Rai and actress Kangana Ranaut share great equation having worked on hit films like Tanu weds Manu and Tanu weds Manu Returns in the past. Recently, he addressed all rumors of a rift between the two and confirmed that they get along very well. According to the rumors, the actress had fallout with the director on the sets of their last film and now Kangana is making attempts to reconcile by sending him feelers. But this is not true.

The director cleared the air and said, `Agreements and disagreements are part of film-making process. But why would Kangana send me feelers at this stage of her career? Also, we have great equations. And who doesn’t want to work with Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir, Varun Dhawan…I will go on taking names….” He further added, “I’d get a call from Kangana’s side when that article (regarding Kangana sending him feelers) appeared and I told them not to react.`

Kangana is currently shooting for Rangoon.

Hrithik Roshan: Will do more than one film in 2016

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, who turned 42 today, has decided to take up more than one project this year unlike the past when he would do one film at a time.

The actor said his upcoming period drama ‘Mohenjo Daaro’ has taken the entire year which has made him reconsider doing more than one movie. “‘Mohenjo Daaro’ has taken the entire year. Again, it forces me to re-decide that this year I am going to do more than one film. I’ve planned it that way that this year I am going to do more than one film, let’s see,” Hrithik told reporters at his birthday celebration here.

The ‘Bang Bang’ star said he feels very “special” on his birthday and thanked his fans for all the love. “I had a party with friends last night…I feel very special, very blessed that I am living such a fantastic birthday. Thank you to all my fans and friends, thank you so much,” the actor said.

Hrithik said he has come a long way from being a “shy, introvert” child to an outgoing person. “Earlier, I was very shy, so it’s a very good sign of being from shy and introverted to the kind of what I feel now… To spread love. I think I’ve done well,” the actor said. The ‘Guzaarish’ star is very enthusiastic about year 2016 being a “special” for him. “I’ve started this year on a very happy note, it’s going to be full of happy things. I am very enthusiastic that something special will happen for sure,” he said. Hrithik also said that love is “all around” him and he feels it “everywhere” he goes.

Women keep discovering, keep inventing, and keep overcoming themselves. Today, women are pregnant with better and more hopeful versions of their own reality. The transformation of consciousness, and precisely not through dogma  or  violence,  is  the  inaugural  moment  of  discovering  new worlds  —  not  by  willing  what  does  not  exist  but  by  seeing  what  is unfolding. As you read, Indian women, each  with  a  different momentum,  are  creating  a  new  geography  of  liberation. As there is no original sin, there is no final forgiveness — and thus no grand illusion, no master-narratives of emancipation.

The advertisement industry has opposed the move of government calling it unfair.

According to the detractors of the move, the onus is on consumer not advertisers.

To an extent, they have a point.

We all know deodorants will not get us, girls. Fairness creams will not make us fairer. The kids will never get brainer by consuming food supplements suggested by brands and soft drinks don’t makes us any cooler than we are.

Then why the hell are we so naïve to believe them?

Film festivals look down upon ‘massy’ films: Farah Khan www.ilovenewz.com

Film festivals look down upon 'massy' films: Farah Khan

Eight years after it regaled Bollywood audiences with its song and dance sequences, filmy story line about reincarnation and an ensemble cast, Farah Khan’s “Om Shanti Om” was showcased at the 37th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) just recently. The filmmaker, however, feels that “commercial or massy” films are largely looked down upon at film festivals in India.

Farah was also feted in Cairo.

“When a foreign film festival honours you, I think, for us in a way, they get your movie. They get the business of your movie. But I think here (in India), the ones who organise the festivals, they tend to look down upon commercial hit films or what they call the masses’ love,” Farah told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

The 50-year-old director’s comment only seems relevant after a veteran Bengali actor Dhritiman Chatterjee, who has acted in films by auteurs as iconic as Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen, objected to Bollywood star Anil Kapoor’s ‘tapori’ dance at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Farah, who has made films like “Main Hoon Na” and “Happy New Year”, said it’s only ironic that “actors and commercial film directors” are invited to film extravaganzas to draw footfalls.

“They (people at film festivals) want to go for the niche highbrow intellectual films, but at the same time they want the actors and commercial directors to come for the festivals because that’s what gets the crowd in and the press,” said the outspoken choreographer-director, who’s known for using colour and glamour in her movies.

Her “Om Shanti Om”, which was screened in Cairo where Farah was honoured with the Faten Hamama Award for excellence in cinema, starred Shah Rukh Khan and launched Deepika Padukone. Interestingly, the movie had over 40 actors appearing in the course of the film, including 30 of them in the “Deewangi deewangi” song alone.

She hopes that film festivals on the home turf start showcasing a mix of commercial and non-commercial films.

“I think if they had a mix of both, it would be ideal… especially if they did not ignore the commercial movies… the good commercial movies,” she said.

Perhaps steps are being taken as Salman Khan’s blockbuster entertainer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” not just set the cash registers ringing but also left people moist-eyed with a heartwarming story.

Meanwhile, films like “The Lunchbox”, “Masaan”, “Angry Indian Goddesses” and “Titli” are some offbeat movies from Hindi filmdom that have found prominence at movie galas.

Farah is now planning to make a movie on “girl power”, which will be produced by her friend superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

The pics come with a message: `Four years ago, a chubby, childish girl was introduced to the world. Four years later, I am where I want to be.

A special photoshoot, made me get rid of my inhibitions, and portray the strong, confident girl I feel today.

Anybody who thinks it’s a challenge, take it from me – you can also do it. Because I am sure that, like me, even you are built that way.`

Inspiring enough to get in shape.

2015 Rewind: 8 lessons Bollywood taught us

As they say, nothing goes waste. As the year comes to a close, hitlist sifts through the hits and flops and controversies of 2015 to see the gems of lessons, some sweet and some bitter, that came out of them…

Music has boundaries and bullies do win sometimes.

Shiv Sena yet again reared its head to protest against Pakistani Ghazal singer Ghulam Ali from performing in Mumbai. Ali chose not to perform anywhere else in India.

Nobody’s a holy cow

Bombay Velvet

The giant disaster called ‘Bombay Velvet’ was a clear example that you could take one of country’s hotshot and maverick directors to pair with one of the most promising stars, but it won’t guarantee success. Some call it lack of focus, some arrogance, but the truth is there is no fixed formula for anything.

Exes can be friends, especially if there is also a film promotion involved

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have always maintained that they share a cordial relationship even after their break-up; call us cynical but the professing of undying love for each other just before the release of their film together was a little hard to digest, even then.

In the testosterone-driven world of cricket, a woman’s presence can only be a distraction

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma.

It started from India’s tour of England last year and continued during this year’s semi-finals. When Virat Kohli performed badly on the pitch, fans looking for a scapegoat, chose to blame his ‘jinxed’ actress-girlfriend Anushka Sharma. Ironically, when Kohli regained form, she was not given any credit.

Even the purest can be censored

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Who would think that Sooraj Barjatya will be introduced to the special pair of scissors that the Censor Board so proudly possesses (for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’)?

Sooraj Barjatya

While poor Soorajji must still be reeling under shock, the board continues giving us a free ride on the time machine back to the dark ages.

Free speech is a farce

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan

The biggest stars of the biggest democratic nation of the world, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan ‘dared’ to speak about growing intolerance in the country, and there was an immediate and ugly backlash from people, political parties, bhakts and their idle uncles.

Success is a responsibility
His supremely confident debut Queen put director Vikas Bahl on a pedestal. However, it didn’t take long for him to be brought down to mother earth, with his drug addled mess called ‘Shaandaar’.

Vikas Bahl

Hopefully, he will operate better from here than seventh heaven.

Bond can do everything, but can’t kiss for more than 007 seconds in India

James Bond

The Censor Board’s sometimes archaic, sometimes haphazard manner of functioning, how could one forget that James Bond fans were not allowed to watch their hero smooch the delicious Monica Bellucci for ‘too long’ in Spectre. The board was worried a kiss lasting for a few more seconds would corrupt the impressionable minds. (No looking for logic here, please. We have given up on that exercise a while ago.)

Watch the motion poster of Sunny Leone's sex comedy 'Mastizaade'

The motion poster of Milap Zaveri’s sex comedy ‘Mastizaade’ starring Sunny Leone, Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das is out.

As soon as the video was released, #MastizaadeMotionPoster started trending on Twitter.

The film ran into trouble earlier this year for its risque content. Both the examining and revising panels of the Censor Board refused to certify the film featuring the actress in a double role alongside, following which the makers had to approach the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.

However, this body also rejected the film for public viewing. It finally received its censor certificate in August after the makers agreed to 200 cuts. It was slated to release on December 4, but the date was pushed ahead to avoid a clash with erotic thriller ‘Hate Story 3’.

‘Mastizaade’ will now release on January 29.

B-Town production houses are now doubling up as talent managers www.ilovenewz.com

B-Town production houses are now doubling up as talent managers

Bollywood production houses are going beyond just churning out films. An increasing number of filmmakers are not only giving a break to newcomers, but also managing the greenhorns and inking multiple film contracts (at least three) with them. Their mantra being if they give freshers that big break, selling them and making them stars, they need to bound them in a contract – at least for a while. However, every production house has its own set of rules. Some don’t insist that when a fresher signs a contract, he or she can’t work with other banners, while some make their discoveries shell out a certain percentage of his or her earnings through endorsements and other film offers.

Ayushmann Khurrana

In the business
The talent list of Yash Raj Films includes stars like Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana. They all had to sign multiple film deals with the production house. Heropanti actors Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon signed a multiple-film deal with Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house has also signed multiple film deals with actors. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai is also apparently planning to set up a talent management division under his production house.

Ranveer Singh signed up with Yash Raj

Even as many leading filmmakers make an inroad into talent management, industry experts point out that as the idea has worked in the past, more and more production houses are following suit. Trade expert Amod Mehra says, “Even in earlier years, talents were bound by contracts for a specified number of years. Madhuri Dixit had entered into a contract with filmmaker Subhash Ghai to do multiple films. As this module had worked then, production houses now understand the benefits that accrue from contracts.”

Fair business module
Film producers, who have entered the trend of talent management, believe that it is an innovative way to not only help the talents in getting big opportunities, but also help the production houses that put a lot of hard work to promote the talent. They also believe that the concept is here to stay for long.

Parineeti Chopra belons to the Yash Raj talent kitty

Ramesh Taurani calls himself the pioneer of the trend. “I had signed Shahid Kapoor when I launched him in Ishq Vishk (2003). Amrita Rao, who played the lead opposite Shahid, had also entered into a multiple film deal with us then. I think if production houses unearth a talent and market them in a way to make them the biggest stars of the industry, it is only fair to enter a deal and work with them for a few more films,” says Taurani. The producer believes a production house is unsure if the first film of a talent would work or not and thus this multiple-film sign module came in place. Taurani adds, “Producers take a lot of risk of risk by launching and marketing new talent. Also, if the film becomes a hit and the talent becomes popular, the production house should benefit from it, too, by working with him or her again. It is an innovative and fair business module and therefore production houses and talents are getting into it.”

Fukrey actor Varun Sharma is signed on with Excel Entertainment

He adds, “I will be launching two new actors next year and they will also sign a multiple film deal with us.” Sajid Nadiadwala, too, believes that new entrants have to be “hand-held” at the initial phase of their career. “It is a big responsibility to launch a new talent as they need constant support and guidance through their initial phase. They adapt quickly, but they need to be guided in the start till they understand the workings of the business.”

Kriti Sanon has signed a multiple-film deal with Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house

Help at hand
While producers believe that it helps them, talents also seem to be benefiting from this trend. New actors, who do not have a godfather in the industry, find a backing from a known production house once they enter into a deal. Varun Sharma, best remembered as Choocha from Fukrey (2013), will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film, Dilwale, sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. He had been part of Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house when he began his career. Commenting on why it is important to have a known production house backing a new actor, Varun says, “Debuting with a big production house is any actor’s dream. When I found the backing of Excel, my dreams came true. For new entrants, it is important to associate with the right people because they teach you not only about the process of making a film, but also mould a talent’s career and growth.”

Anushka Sharma was a Yash Raj find

Beyond contracts
While many production houses have endorsed the idea of multiple film offers, other big players, however, do not endorse the idea. Some production houses believe that one does not have to enter a contract to continue working with artistes.

Amrita Pandey, VP and Head of Marketing and Distribution, Studios, Disney India, says, “We believe creative collaborations go beyond contracts. When the creative community sees the studio adding value and being a positive anchor for the movie, it leads to continued working relationships. We’ve collaborated with Aamir Khan on seven movies – from Rang De Basanti (2006) to Dangal for which he is currently shooting. With Shah Rukh Khan, it has been from Swades (2004) to Chennai Express (2013). We are now distributing Dilwale in international markets. We have collaborated with Ranbir Kapoor on several films right from Wake Up Sid (2009), Barfi! (2012), Raajneeti (2010) to his recent release Tamasha and his next film Jagga Jasoos. We have also worked with director Anurag Basu (Life in a Metro (2007), Barfi!(2012) and his next Jagga Jasoos).”

Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, whose production house is known for launching new talents, is also against endorsing the idea of contracts with artistes. “We are not interested in making contracts. We believe in creating talents and not binding them. Our company does not believe in bonded labour.”

Don’t regret later
As production houses and talents who have entered into a contract seem to be satisfied with the business module and others are clear why they have stayed away from it, industry experts have a few suggestions for new talents who are willing to sign a deal. Film expert Taran Adarsh says, “Firstly, it is a negotiable agreement between a production house and talent. So, to regret it (the contract) later is not right. I know of an instance when an actress was not willing to give commission of her payments to the producer. But, she had signed the contract. So the producer was not in the wrong. One should keep their eyes and mind open while signing a contract. If one cribs about it later, then it shows you in a bad light.”
